Editorial Standards & Source Attribution
STN publishing standards for human review, source attribution, rights and uncertainty.
Human review and publication decisions
The governed STN newsroom workflow records an editorial decision against an authenticated reviewer account, with a rationale and time. Accepting a candidate for trust review does not authorize public release. Required source, rights and human-verification gates remain separate. A review record is not a credential, government clearance or independent endorsement.
Sources and media rights
Identify the original publisher and source location, retain attribution, and distinguish the source publication or event date from the time STN retrieved it. Public availability alone is not permission to copy or redistribute material. Content must pass the applicable source-rights and publication controls before STN makes it public.
Evidence and uncertainty
Distinguish a verified fact from an attributed statement, estimate, allegation or developing report. Missing, stale or unavailable evidence must not be replaced by invented facts. An official source or company announcement remains attributed to that source; carrying it does not mean STN independently established every claim.
AI-assisted work
AI-assisted classification and developing-story output are candidates for review, not permission to self-approve publication or company classification. Consequential assertions require the applicable evidence and human decision. Do not present a generated byline, biography or qualification as a real person.
Corrections and conflicts
Use the published Corrections Policy to report a disputed claim or source. Commercial interest, company claims and paid promotion follow separate processes and cannot substitute for editorial evidence or index approval.
