* (Disclaimer: The content in this video is intended for educational and informational purposes only) Fraser, Michigan — On October 26, 2026, Fraser Police Officers attempted to stop a 61-year-old driver, identified as Gaspare Cracchiolo, after surveillance cameras flagged his SUV in connection with a reported hit-and-run and a previous incident involving fleeing from police in Wayne County. Officers located the vehicle behind a business near Kelly Road and Groesbeck Highway in Fraser. When an officer approached, Cracchiolo allegedly accelerated, maneuvered through the parking lot and rammed a police SUV occupied by two officers. The collision injured both officers, with one suffering arm pain after the vehicle’s airbag deployed. Despite the crash, the officers managed to exit through the passenger side and ordered the driver to stop, but he allegedly reversed out of the lot and fled. Additional Fraser officers soon located the SUV and pursued it for several miles into neighboring Warren.
The pursuit came to a dramatic end near Groesbeck Highway and 11 Mile Road, where Cracchiolo lost control of the SUV and overturned into a retention pond outside a local business. The crash unfolded just yards from employees working inside the building, some of whom feared the vehicle would strike their offices. Officers approached the overturned SUV with their weapons drawn and took Cracchiolo into custody after he was medically cleared. He was subsequently arraigned in 39th District Court in Roseville, where a judge set bond at $1 million cash or surety. Cracchiolo faces multiple charges, including counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, fleeing from police, resisting arrest, operating with a suspended or revoked license, Unlawful use of a license plate/registration, malicious destruction of police property and operating while intoxicated. He is also charged as a habitual offender and was scheduled to return to court for a probable cause conference on November 13.
