About this video
Homeland defense is the military protection of United States sovereignty and territory against external threats and aggression.
This video provides an overview of Air Force Doctrine Publication (AFDP) 3-27, Homeland Defense, highlighting the critical role of airpower in protecting the nation against an increasingly complex and persistent multi-domain threat environment.
The video examines emerging threats, including ballistic and hypersonic missiles, unmanned aircraft systems, cyber intrusions, and weapons of mass destruction. It highlights the Air Force's contributions through air superiority, integrated air and missile defense, nuclear deterrence, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, rapid global mobility, and resilient command and control.
Additional topics include the roles of NORAD, USNORTHCOM, and USINDOPACOM; coordination among military organizations, federal and state agencies, and private-sector partners; and the legal authorities governing homeland defense and defense support of civil authorities.
As threats evolve, effective homeland defense demands readiness, unity of effort, and the ability to detect, deter, and defeat aggression across multiple domains.
