U.S. Soldiers assigned to 3rd Battalion, 501st Aviation Regiment, Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Armored Division, train to provide aerial firefighting support using a Bambi Bucket on a CH-47 Chinook at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, Oct. 13, 2026. Flight crews use Bambi Buckets; a large bucket suspended from beneath the helicopter that is designed to quickly fill and drop water repeatedly on any terrain.
