About this video
Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Corona Division's Close Combat Engineering Team developed a 3D-printable submunition clip designed to prevent accidental discharge of M42 and M46 submunitions during explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) operations. By mitigating the extreme operational risks associated with unexploded ordnance, the submunition clip directly protects the joint force's most critical asset: the warfighter. The innovation earned the team an Excellence in Safety Award from Naval Sea Systems Command for fiscal year 2025 and was recently filed for a provisional patent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
