New Mexico National Guard Soldiers assigned to the 126th Military Police Company, 111th Military Police Battalion, supporting Joint Task Force–Southern Border (JTF-SB) in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, conduct a foot patrol near Escobares, Texas, Oct. 12, 2026, scanning the Rio Grande riverbank for signs of activity. The patrol supports Operation Unified Resolve, a reinforcing effort under Operation Ardent Vanguard to increase presence and operational coverage in the Rio Grande Valley. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.(Dept. of War Video by Sgt.
