About this video

This video demonstrates the Blast Overpressure (BOP) Tool running on a handheld mobile device. Developed by the Department of Defense, the BOP Tool is available as a standalone application or as an integrated feature within the Range Mitigation Toolkit (RMTK). The tool estimates personnel blast exposures based on weapon system, munition type, location, and individual posture. It features two core modules: the Site Module, which maps predicted blast exposure zones across training areas to support decisions on weapon placement, personnel positioning, and site modifications; and the Scene Module, which provides 3D visualizations of blast effects on the human body, allowing users to adjust posture and positioning to evaluate mitigation strategies. This capability enhances mission readiness, enables real-time risk assessment and helps protect warfighter health by reducing cumulative blast overpressure exposure.
