U.S. Coast Guardsmen supporting Joint Task Force–Southern Border (JTF-SB) in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, conduct riverine patrol operations along the Rio Grande near Rio Grande City, Texas, Oct. 12, 2026, monitoring the river corridor and surrounding area. The patrol supports Operation Unified Resolve, a reinforcing effort under Operation Ardent Vanguard to increase presence and operational coverage in the Rio Grande Valley. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
