About this video
U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Joel Carey, 5th Air Force commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Andrew Small, 5th AF command chief master sergeant, introduce the 5th Air Force and its mission in the Indo-Pacific. The 5th AF is the U.S. Air Force’s oldest continuously serving numbered air force, with more than 75 years of air power operations in the Pacific since 1941. Known as the “Fighting Fifth” for its combat legacy, the 5th AF works with joint and allied forces, including the Japan Self-Defense Forces, to support the defense of Japan, respond to contingencies and strengthen the U.S.-Japan Security Alliance. The 5th AF maintains a forward presence across three main bases in Japan while supporting air operations throughout the Indo-Pacific region. (U.S. Air Force video by Yasuo Osakabe)
