About this video

Marines at Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany participated in the Marine Corps Water Survival Program, Sept. 1. MCWSP involves completing water survival training designed to strengthen aquatic proficiency, confidence and combat readiness. During the training, Marines perform a series of water survival tasks that may include swimming in utilities, entering the water from a designated height, remaining afloat, treading water, using equipment as flotation devices and safely removing gear while submerged. As an amphibious force, the Marine Corps uses the MCWSP to prepare Marines to survive waterborne emergencies and operate effectively in demanding aquatic environments. The training develops the skills and confidence necessary to respond during amphibious and shipboard operations, training incidents and other water-related emergencies. More than a swim qualification, MCWSP reinforces an essential element of Marine Corps readiness — ensuring Marines are prepared to survive and continue the mission when operating in and around the water. Confidence in the water. Capability in the fight.
