U.S. Army Journey: The Njiyang Sisters – Episode 2, Preparing for the Army

Violet, Velma and Victory Njiyang, triplets and U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers from W.J. Keenan High School in Columbia, South Carolina, take their first steps toward becoming Soldiers as they prepare for and begin Basic Combat Training in the second episode of U.S. Army Journey: The Njiyang Sisters.

The episode follows the sisters through JROTC leadership responsibilities, Future Soldier training, and final preparations before leaving home. Watch as the sisters say "see you later" to their family at a send-off gathering at the recruiting station, reception at Army Training Center Fort Jackson, and the opening moments of Day Zero as they begin Basic Combat Training.

The sisters are participating in the Army’s Split Training Option, which allows them to complete Basic Combat Training before returning home for their senior year of high school. They will later continue the initial training required for their respective Army careers.

“Preparing for the Army” focuses on the sisters’ transition from high school students and JROTC leaders to trainees entering the Army training environment, including the uncertainty of leaving family, being separated from one another and beginning the first stage of their military service.
