This Saturday, we celebrate 60 years of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Axe!
Commissioned in 1966, Axe is a 75-foot Inland Construction Tender and apart of Coast Guard’s historic fleet of construction tenders. For six decades, it has served the Coast Guard and the waterways of the nation and is continuing to carry out the work that keeps our waterways safe and navigable.
Today, Cutter Axe is homeported in Morgan City, Louisiana, where the crew continues the Coast Guard’s mission of maintaining and protecting the maritime transportation system.
Sixty years. Countless miles. Generations of Coast guardsman and a legacy that continues.
Happy 60th Anniversary, Axe!
