About this video
U.S. Army, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force and Australian service members conduct combined training during Orient Shield 26 in Hokkaido, Japan, September 2026. Throughout the exercise, participating forces conducted aviation operations, tactical ground movements, medical training, casualty evacuation and field exercises designed to strengthen readiness and interoperability in challenging environments.
Orient Shield 26 provides U.S., Japanese and Australian forces opportunities to train side by side while improving communication, coordination and their ability to operate as a combined force. The large-scale exercise integrates U.S. Army Multi-Domain Operations with JGSDF Cross-Domain Operations and reinforces the partnerships necessary to maintain a free and open Indo-Pacific.
