NEW CASTLE AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Del. — Stella Twumasi, wing director of psychological health and suicide prevention program manager for the 166th Airlift Wing, launches 2026 Suicide Prevention Awareness Month with a message focused on social connection, peer support and unit cohesion.

Twumasi is joined by Maj. William Guy, Delaware National Guard state chaplain, and Chief Master Sgt. Todd Dugar, 166th Wing command chief, to discuss the role leaders and service members can play in strengthening connections and recognizing potential risk factors.

The discussion highlights the importance of knowing service members, maintaining meaningful relationships, checking in with others and creating opportunities for connection and support. Twumasi also encourages members to learn about suicide, challenge common myths and use thoughtful, constructive language when discussing suicide.

The campaign message emphasizes the role of connection in supporting mental health, fostering resilience and strengthening readiness.
