About this video

In honor of POW/MIA day on Sept. 18, Offutt Air Force Base held a ceremony honoring the more than 80-thousand American Service members considered missing in action. Following the ceremony volunteers started the Offutt Air Force Base annual POW-MIA Day 24-hour run/walk at 8 a.m. on Sept. 17, 2026. Volunteers are charged with keeping the flag in constant motion for 24 hours by walking or running. Participants can carry the flag alone or in a group and pass the flag off to a teammate at any time as long as it keeps moving. Another way for volunteers to show their support is to wear stickers with the names of the 887 Nebraskans who are still considered missing in action. In the gazebo on the parade grounds the traditional POW/MIA table was set and will remain there until the 24-hour run walk is complete. (U.S. Air Force video by J.B. Artley)
