About this video

B-roll footage shows a Taylor County crew preparing bedding, installing a larger replacement culvert, and placing backfill at Perkinstown Trail and Forest Road 552 on a tributary to McKenzie Creek in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in Wisconsin, Aug. 25, 2026. Workers spread geotextile fabric and aggregate, check elevations with a laser level and grade rod, and guide the culvert into position as an excavator lowers it into the prepared crossing. The crew then places material around and over the pipe and compacts it with handheld tamping equipment. Ground-level and equipment-mounted views show the coordinated work needed to establish the culvert’s position and rebuild support beneath the road. (Forest Service video by Michael McCool)
