About this video
B-roll footage shows a Taylor County crew removing an old culvert and excavating its replacement crossing at Perkinstown Trail and Forest Road 552 on a tributary to McKenzie Creek in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in Wisconsin, Aug. 25, 2026. An excavator uncovers and lifts out the deteriorated metal pipe, exposing rust and missing sections, then removes additional material to prepare for a larger culvert. Workers check excavation elevations using a laser receiver mounted on a grade rod. Ground-level and equipment-mounted views document the opening phase of a replacement completed during one workday to improve the road and stream crossing. (Forest Service video by Michael McCool)
