About this video
A UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter with the Idaho Army National Guard's State Aviation Group hoists 1st Sgt. Jared Gilstad, a crew chief, and Staff Sgt. Ryan Jones during mandatory rescue hoist training near the Sawtooth Mountains, Idaho, July 23, 2026. The mandatory training kept aircrews certified on the rescue hoist system, a critical capability for the State Aviation Group's high-elevation and remote search and rescue missions across Idaho. The Idaho Army National Guard trained year-round and integrated civilian first responders, including the Custer County Sheriff's Office, county search and rescue teams and Air St. Luke's medical transport, to remain ready for technical and difficult missions.
