The Air Force Civil Engineer Center at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, plays a major role in the National “Robot Rodeo” each year. The Robot Rodeo provides opportunities for bomb techs to get their hands on the latest and greatest in explosive ordnance disposal—or “E.O.D.”—robotics technology! The interagency ‘friendly-competitive’ format includes military as well as state and federal and international partners. From that ‘stick-time’ in simulated real-world threat environments, those techs then have a direct influence on how these robotic platforms will evolve. The event moves around the country each year, and the 10th annual ‘Robot Rodeo’ was recently held near Oriskany, New York… but it all started in 2016 with the EOD Division of the Air Force Civil Engineer Center.
