Twenty-five years after 9/11, the Air Force Medical Service looks back on the day that changed readiness forever. Our series, “Medics of 9/11,” recollects the harrowing events and extraordinary heroism of that day from the perspective of Airmen and medics on the frontlines of the medical response.
On September 11, 2001, then-Capt. Andrew Weaver was serving as the Military Personnel Flight Commander at Bolling Air Force Base, where he was placed in charge of the accountability efforts of all D.C. Airmen in the wake of the Pentagon attack. Now a retired Air Force colonel, Mr. Weaver recounts the day of the attack and how it shaped his life of service. (U.S. Air Force video by Megan Hearst)
