About this video

U.S. Air and Army National Guard members train alongside Wisconsin Emergency Management personnel during technical rescue training at the Regional Emergency All-Climate Training Center at Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center, Wisconsin, Aug. 26, 2026. U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. David Franklin, a fire chief with the 125th Fighter Wing, Florida Air National Guard, discusses how Patriot 26 brings together firefighters, medical specialists, Army National Guard CERFP search and extraction personnel and civilian emergency responders to train in complex disaster environments. Participants practiced rope rescue, shoring, concrete cutting, breaching, lifting and moving, giving them experience they can take back to their home units and apply during future domestic response operations.

Patriot 26, an Air National Guard-hosted exercise taking place at Volk Field Combat CRTC, brings together approximately 1,000 Airmen and Soldiers from National Guard units across 35 states, along with federal, state and local agencies, to enhance domestic response readiness and interagency coordination during large-scale emergencies. The scenario allows aircrews to practice locating, hoisting and evacuating simulated patients from areas where terrain or other conditions may prevent an aircraft from landing.
